Kelvin “Crazy Horse” Joseph is the head instructor at Hybrid MMA. He is one of only a few black belts awarded by Roger Gracie, ten-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, OneFC Light Heavyweight champion and greatest of all time in the sport. Kelvin began BJJ in London with Roger Gracie when the sport was in its infancy in the region which was over the years frequented by a variety of people such as Vitor Belfort (ex-UFC champion), Guy Richie (film director) and many others from all walks of life. While in London he took the gold medal in the prestigious London Open. When he arrived in New Zealand he competed in Nationals and claimed gold medal in the open division also. Kelvin began his own BJJ club shortly after while also competing in wrestling, to compliment his BJJ and Judo credentials, which resulted in representing New Zealand at the Commonwealth team. 

Kelvin has combined his high-level grappling pedigree with his kickboxing background to compile an undefeated MMA record while also capturing the Shuriken Pro MMA Welterweight and Middleweight titles. Kelvin’s charisma and ability to teach to all levels of skill is the basis of a truly enjoyable place to train, grow and develop among many avid practitioners of the sport, ranging from professional fighters to everyday enthusiasts.
